Abradability Index of a refractory material

Abradability Index is a measure of the erodibility of a refractory material expressed as a volume of material lost. In this test, the surface of a test specimen is subjected to the abrasive action of specified air-blown abrasive (alumina or silicon carbide) and its mass loss is determined.

LMATS can perform abradability index on refractory samples in accordance with AS 1774.23.1 Oblique method and AS 1774.23.2 perpendicular method.
