Aerospace Adhesives and Sealant Testing
LMATS ’ recent entry into the field of structural adhesives and sealants has met with a huge success and garnered a lot of support from the aerospace industry. We conduct adhesive and sealant testing on some of the most well-known brands of structural adhesives and sealants used in the Aerospace industry.
Our current tests involve a subset of AS5127/1C and other ASTM standards comprising the following:
- Flow for A, B, C, D & E classes of sealants by AS5127/1C
- Application Time for class A, B, C, D of sealants and catalyst in accordance to AS5127/1C
- Tack-Free time for all classes
- Initial Cure time with testing to ASTM D2240
- Peel Strength for classes A,B,C,D & E in both 4 and 5 inch configuration
- T-Peel strength for structural adhesives in accordance to ASTM D1876
- Lap Shear test for structural adhesives in accordance to ASTM D1002, we offer PAA and thin film sulphuric acid anodizing to their respective standards.
- Gel Time of adhesives in accordance to ASTM D2471.
LMATS comprises a team of Materials and Chemical Engineers, Scientists and Engineering Technologists.
We have the in-house expertise to design comprehensive testing plans including fabrication of specialised jigs and fixtures required for testing to specific standards or specific client needs.
Our team is currently researching into expanding our test programmes to include:
- Rubber testing to ISO 37/ ASTM D412
- Flatwise tensile testing of adhesives using metal honeycomb core to BS EN 2243 / ASTM C297.
The combination of these professionals from different speciality areas ensures that adhesive testing is performed precisely to the test procedure, in a timely manner.
