Bend Tests

A bend test is a test of the ductility of a material or welded joint. Essentially it involves the visual examination of the external surface (the surface in tension) of a test piece after the bending operation is completed. The specified code or standard gives the requirements for the dimensions of the bend former, the extent of the bending required and the permissible level of tears open to the surface.
