Weld Macro Examinations

The process of examination and assessment of weld macro specimens can be complex and must be approached in a systematic way. In general, acceptance criteria stated in the codes/standards consist of references to the appearance of defects as viewed by either radiography or surface NDT methods and therefore some interpretation is required when assessing the randomly-selected, single-cross-sectional view provided by the macro specimen.
